Flash Terminal

If you are being charged by the hour for your Internet connection, transferring large or multiple files may cost too much. To avoid this, you would need a faster way of exchanging files. Flash Terminal allows a user to send multiple files, receive others and chat with a person at the same time.

The setup file can be downloaded fast with any Internet connection due to the fact that it is only 1.39 Mb large. The software was designed for Win 95 to Win 2003, but it will work fine even on later versions, including Vista or Win 7.

Flash Terminal's interface consists of a chat area, a list of contacts, on the left side, and a list, on the bottom area, where the progress of the transfers is displayed. A connection can be established either manually or with the help of a wizard. The manual connection involves specifying the connection method, modem and phone number. You can do all these on a single window after clicking a button on the toolbar.

The connection wizard can also be launched by clicking a toolbar button and it features the same options, but you will go through them in a logical order and you will receive step by step instructions. Besides a modem connection, Flash Terminal supports COM to COM connections. Thus, you can connect to a nearby computer, without making use of the Internet and having to pay for it.

The file transfers are fast and you can send and receive at the same time. Also during this time, you can chat with the person you are exchanging files with. Should your connection fail, the software can resume the transfers from where they were interrupted when the connection is reestablished.
